The Black Book

The Black Book is a curated editorial project designed to showcase the best of Detroit. Clients from luxury real estate, design, and lifestyle through a modern, elevated lens. Conceived as more than a traditional magazine or property catalog, the book was built to feel like a collectible object, blending high-end editorial storytelling with refined visual design and premium print production. I served as Creative Director on the project from concept through print, shaping the vision, structure, design system, and overall creative direction. This included defining the visual identity, layout approach, typography, photography style, and pacing of the book to ensure every page felt intentional, cohesive, and elevated.

The design choices leaned into a sleek, modern aesthetic with strong restraint, generous white space, refined typography, and a clean grid system that allowed the content to breathe. Every creative decision was made to reinforce how different this book was from others in the category, positioning it as a contemporary, design-led publication rather than a conventional real estate showcase. The result is a distinctive, premium editorial piece that stands apart through its craft, clarity, and modern approach, redefining what a real estate and lifestyle book can look and feel like.
